About the project

“(In)visible Heritage. The Bliznyuky region” is a project devoted to researching, interpreting and promoting the cultural heritage of the Bliznyuky community in the Kharkiv region. Its goal is to gather scattered knowledge about local history, landmarks, landscapes, traditions and people into a single, coherent picture accessible to everyone.

At the heart of the project lies heritage that often goes unnoticed: archaeological finds, old buildings, family stories, local legends, archives and residents’ memories. The research covers Bliznyuky, Dobrovillia and Uplatne, combining work in archives, field expeditions and interviews with local residents.

“(In)visible Heritage” seeks not only to record the past but also to help the community see its value today. After all, heritage is not only landmarks or artefacts — it is the feeling of connection to a place, its history and its people.
